I had so much FUN planning for my son's Third (3rd) Birthday! So much so that I ‘transformed’ our Dining Room by covering the artwork…
As you can see, it was terribly easy. I covered everything with wrapping paper! It was quick & cheap and changed the atmosphere. Later coordinated my outfit.
The color scheme was a BIG help. The yellow paper products contrasted the red tablecloth so well I thought that it really gave our table the punch we needed.
The menu was on the wall. Not that the children could read at three (3). I did it for the contrast and shamelessly, for myself.
We had peanuts for the Elephants. <insert wink> Circus Popcorn... I was grateful to find the popcorn bags at Simply Love http://simplylove.com.hk in Hong Kong.
I worked hard to get the bubblegum to match.. the color scheme. But dividing the bubblegum was worth the hassel. My late Grandpa always said: "If you're gonna do it, do it right!"
I suggest to do it a day ahead because the last minute rush was maddening! My husband always seems to disappear at the last minute. Lol.
We also had homemade lemonade. The kids intook less sugar that way. ...they didn't chew much of the bubblegum. They were only three (3) after all.
And Hotdogs. I apologize. In my defense, it was the first but honestly not the last time that I have served hotdogs in my home. Last Halloween was the best! We had Mummy Dogs... So I guess that counts as two (2) times that I have ever made & served hotdogs in our home.
They are really a necessary evil. <insert sigh> And I must admit; came in really handy both times!
To make up for it, I ordered a Circus Tent in the form of a cake. Isn’t it sweet?
That shared, here's a little factoid about Macau. We have some very talented Mumpreneurs in Macau but not all of their cakes taste great.
Shocker! I have learned to accept that it's an art form. These cakes aren’t mean to be eaten. They are mean to be photographed! Lol. God help us. We are all learning.
They do get better every year.
Finally, you'll note that I made the gift bags shown herein myself. A FUN treat for the tots an good project for me. I can assure you that they were not filled with sugar!
